My research focuses on the study of plankton and benthos community in freshwater bodies - especially high mountain lakes- during the present and the past. I study the phytoplankton and zooplankton succession and the phytoplankton response to nutrients and grazing, the algal epibionts and zooplankton relationship, and the life cycle of planktonic species.

  • PhD. Department of Ecology, University of Granada (Spain), 1992

Appointments.

  • 1993-1994: Postdoctoral position (Netherlands Institute of Ecology, Centre for Limnology)

Global Ecology.

Research interest.

In the last years is of special interest to me:

  1. the study of zooplankton life cycles, particularly the hatching and production of resting forms, and
  2. the paleolimnological analysis of lake community changes in the last 200 years.
